The Pastor’s Role

At Pilgrim International Church, we believe the pastor’s primary calling is to care for the congregation as a shepherd tends his flock. This vital role includes:

• Teaching and Preaching: Pastor Phillip is committed to careful, systematic teaching of God’s Word, making its timeless truths accessible to both newcomers and mature believers
• Leading Worship: Guiding our congregation in meaningful reverential worship of the triune God
• Pastoral Care: Providing spiritual guidance, counseling, and support
• Equipping the Saints: Training and encouraging each member to discover and use their spiritual gifts in service to God and others

Pastor Phillip’s preaching style emphasizes careful exposition of Scripture while drawing practical applications for daily life. He welcomes meeting with congregants and can be reached through our church office for pastoral counseling or conversation.

Background and Experience

Pastor Phillip brings a unique blend of experiences to his ministry:

• Academic Training: Holds degrees in Economics (B.A., California State), Exegetical Theology (M.A., Covenant Seminary), and Biblical Theology (M.Phil., Fordham University), combining scholarly depth with practical wisdom
• Cross-Cultural Ministry: His years living in cities such as Los Angeles, New York, and Miami, as well as in the Dominican Republic, have shaped his approach to international ministry
• Languages: Fluent in English and Spanish, and actively learning Portuguese to better serve our diverse community
• Business Experience: Background in business leadership that informs his practical approach to ministry

Family and Personal Life

Pastor Phillip shares life and ministry with his wife, Allison, and their three daughters. Together, they enjoy exploring Portugal’s rich history and culture. His love for classical music, opera, and philosophical studies enriches his ministry and teaching.

Vision for Braga

Pastor Phillip’s vision extends beyond our church walls. He is passionate about seeing Braga and Portugal flourish spiritually and culturally. This includes:

• Building bridges with the local community
• Fostering meaningful dialogue with the Roman Catholic Church
• Contributing to Braga’s spiritual and cultural vitality
